Morning Leaders – First Time Sharer

Morning Leaders. I find it super interesting when I meet people for the first time and they share a great deal about their accomplishments and how amazing they are. Self-promotion is cool but when you can’t stop talking about all the amazing things you do in our first conversation I get a little skeptical. Because I am a great listener I get to hear their story and learn about them. Over the past twenty years these are some of the things I learned beneath the surface about these generous first-time sharers:
1) They are trying their best to impress others.
2) They really love themselves (some even on that Kanye level).
3) They want to keep you distracted so you don’t see the real them.
4) They don’t have many friends and are actively seeking engagement/connection.
5) They’re afraid of intimacy and would rather stay surface.

Have you had similar experience with generous first-time sharers? What have you learned?
